Learn a beat, or work one harder, by filing research and reporting, with byline opportunities. This virtual internship involves participating in the editorial process in story meetings, working closely with columnists and editors, and generating story ideas about the hyperlocal industry. Experience writing and reporting a must, business journalism preferred. Knowledge of WordPress or other CMS helpful. Generate revenue through an exciting new brand that helps clients reach the thousands of top hyperlocal executives. Help them market through the Street Fight website and newsletter, as well as our elite conferences and events. This opportunity involves integrated selling across all of the Street Fight-branded products, including online ad space, white papers and webinars, and event sponsorships. Experience in online media sales a requirement, with emphasis on media-, business- or tech-focused properties and event sponsorship selling a bonus. Support new product launches with marketing campaigns that include customer outreach, website and newsletter promotion as well as social media and PR efforts. Intern will have the opportunity to participate in strategy plans behind these product launches, and will be expected to contribute copy and outreach/social media efforts. Some design may be involved depending upon skills and interest. This internship offers a hands-on role with strong mentors to get an inside view on the growth of a startup, and a first-row view into the dynamic hyperlocal sector, which includes hot tech startups such as Foursquare, Yelp, Groupon and others.
