Guest Post Guidelines
A major aspect of Street Fight’s editorial mission is to present insider information about the hyperlocal industry — taken straight from the source in the form of guest posts. We want to be a forum where top experts exchange strategies and insights into sustainable hyperlocal business models, and we regularly welcome a wide range of outside voices into our editorial mix.
Before you start, writing, though, please take a little time to consider the following:
– If you’re not already familiar with Street Fight and our mission, please read through some of our recent content to get a sense of the kind of writing we publish (guest posts can largely be found in our Commentary section). Street Fight stories contain analysis about the business of hyperlocal (including localized daily deals, small-radius news and information sites, location-based services and apps, and online advertising/marketing platforms aimed at small businesses). We are interested in stories that show the impact of location-specific business strategies on the bottom line.
– The ideal length for a Street Fight post is 750 words. A post can be as short as 500 words, but it cannot exceed 1100.
– We will not publish posts that are self-promotional (to publish a post explicitly about your company, please consider the Sponsored Post option at the bottom of the submission page). This means that any article submitted needs to stand on its own, editorially — it has to include top-level insight into trends in the industry that can be used by others in developing their own strategies. Guest posts cannot feel like PR; they cannot simply be a new product demo, or the description of a consumer problem that, coincidentally, only your company has the wherewithal to solve. Case studies that reference your own company are fine, but they must be relevant and topical, and presented within a larger context.
– If there are relevant links to be included in a piece (like a company you’re referencing, or a past news article that gives further context to your post), please include them! We also appreciate all images, graphics and embeddable videos that will help make your piece pop off the page.
– We expect that all posts will the original work of the author and exclusive to Street Fight. This means we will not publish material that has appeared elsewhere, and we will not accept posts that are being pitched to multiple news outlets for simultaneous publication. We also expect that contributors will disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
With your post, please include:
* Author bio
* Author headshot
* Relevant image (resizable to 150×150) that is not under copyright
