SinglePlatform Founder Starts New Food Delivery Company
Wiley Cerilli, founder of SinglePlatform and First Round Capital investor, has started and raised $2.2M for a new food delivery company called Good Uncle. Cerilli sold SinglePlatform to Constant Contact for $100M in 2012. After the acquisition, he worked for Constant Contact then joined First Round Capital. Good Uncle aims to serve customers the best dishes from the best restaurants near them.
Salesforce Vet Is New EVP at Yext
Each month, Yext looks to be prepping for an IPO. Marc Ferrentino, former Salesforce chief technical architect, has joined Yext as executive vice president of strategy. Howard Lerman, Yext Co-Founder and CEO, said “There is no one better suited to lead our strategic development at this critical point in Yext’s growth trajectory, and we couldn’t be happier to have him on board.”
Factual Beefing Up With New CRO
Fresh from raising $35M in venture capital, Factual has hired Rob Jonas as senior vice president of revenue. Jonas left his post as chief revenue officer at PubMatic to join the LA based startup. As startups — like Factual — grow up, there’s a trend of hiring senior revenue team members to bring structure to managed chaos.
Act-On’s Newly Hired Gun
Tom Cameron has joined marketing automation company, Act-On Software, as chief revenue officer. He will be tasked with leading and scaling their global sales organization. Prior to joining Act-On, Cameron was chief revenue officer of Cloudworlds and vice president of sales at Autodesk. With over $70M in venture funding, Act-On is likely moving their growth strategy to predictable revenue models and mature forecasting.
Google VP Departs to Pinterest
Pinterest has tapped Google vice president of sales, Jon Kaplan, as its new head of global sales. The billion dollar unicorn company is seeking monetization and revenue development strategies so the hire of a digital ad expert is smart. Kaplan’s experience in growing digital revenue will apply directly to Pinterest’s growth initiatives.
Internal Promotion at xAd
Joining xAd in 2012 as a sales leader, Chad Hickey has assumed the role as chief revenue officer of the location-based mobile marketing company. xAd which raised $50M in 2014 continues to grow and reach over 300M people monthly due to its technology.
Growth = Chief People Officer at Verve
As Verve continues to grow, newly appointed CEO Nada Stirratt has hired operations veteran Pratiksha Patel as chief people officer. Patel will be a key strategy component as Verve expands internationally. Before joining Verve, Patel worked in people and operations roles at Centric Digital and The Digital Marvels.
IBM Acquires The Weather Company; Appoints Watson Head
After purchasing The Weather Company’s technology and web-based businesses a couple weeks ago, The Weather Company CEO David Kenny will now head IBM’s Watson business unit. Before the acquisition by IBM, Kenny was CEO of The Weather Company and CEO of Digitas. Taking over the helm of Watson is quite fascinating because machine learning, artificial intelligence, and complicated algorithms could end up changing the world for the better.
CEO Appointment at Telmetrics
Telmetrics has appointed Andrew Osmak as president and chief executive officer. Osmak’s experience is in business development, management consulting, and investor relations. It looks like Telmetrics board and shareholders found an ally to help increase shareholder value of the private equity backed company.
New Sales Lead at ZypMedia
ZypMedia has hired Michelle Savoy to spearhead revenue and lead sales for the programmatic media buying platform for local advertising. Savoy was vice president of sales at Undertone and senior vice president of local at iHeart Radio. ZypMedia raised a Series B round of funding in April 2015. The hire of Savoy shows the importance of revenue, partnerships, and winning in the crowded programmatic space.
Yext Brings on DoubleClick Manager
Joe Wiese, senior account manager of Google’s DoubleClick, was snatched up by Yext to become director of enterprise. Wiese has extensive knowledge of paid search, local marketing, and platforms. The likelihood of Weise’s experience being relevant is high.
Acquisio Acquires a VP of Marketing
Marc-Andre Sinclair, who had been at YP Canada since 2008, has joined Montreal-based SaaS advertising platform Acquisio as the company’s VP of marketing recently. At YP Canada he had been the company’s director of local content and editor in chief,
New Business Development Lead at Soleo
Jovana Riddle, former business development lead at Flint Mobile has joined Soleo as head of business development. Riddle has a wealth of knowledge in the local and publisher field including stints at hibu and Yahoo.
Blippar Expands Leadership in EMEA
Image-recognition platform and visual browser for mobile targeted customer-brand interaction Blippar, brings on former Yahoo vice president Glen Drury as chief commercial officer. Drury will focus on EMEA market and driving revenue.
