Indochino Appoints New CEO
Indochino, the made-to-measure menswear company, has brought on seasoned entrepreneur Drew Green as CEO. Prior to joining Indochino, Green founded Shop.ca, where he remains a majority shareholder. Indochino has raised over $17 million in venture funding. In a crowded market — for example, Combatant Gentlemen — Green has his work cut out for him in order to reach the company’s goal of selling one million suits a year by 2020.
Uber Hires LBS Partnership Executive
Location-based services (LBS) veteran Marc Prioleau has shut down his consulting business and has joined Uber to help the on-demand transportation giant with LBS partnerships. Prioleau will focus on “creating and managing partnerships with geospatial content and technology suppliers worldwide” — further proof of Uber’s global ambitions. Prioleau’s hire follows on the high-profile appointments of two Google veterans, Manik Gupta and Brian McClendon, to key posts.
Lyft Brings in Former Foursquare COO to Lead East Coast Operations
Not to be outdone, Lyft, Uber’s chief competitor, has hired former Foursquare chief operating officer Evan Cohen to ramp up its East Coast operations, particularly in key battleground markets like New York City, where it faces stiff competition and a challenging regulatory environment.
Another Exec Joins Everything But The House
Everything But The House has hired former TicketMaster vice president of marketing Sachin Gadhvi as chief marketing officer. After raising a monster $30M Series B, EBTH has made several strategic hires (Ben Luban, Michelle Lee, Kat Ubungen) over the past few months.
Urgent.ly Beefs Up with Sales Hire
After raising a $7 million Series A round in September, Urgent.ly has hired Tom Sexton as vice president of strategic sales. Most recently, Sexton was at deCarta (acquired by Uber in March 2015) in a business development role. Urgent.ly, which bills itself as the Uber of its market niche, is disrupting the roadside assistance market by providing fast, high-quality assistance at a moment’s notice.
Local Industry Sales Leader Joins Uber
There’s more news out of Uber: Stephen Smith has joined the company in a sales leadership capacity. Smith has worked in multiple sales roles at companies such as LocBox and Yelp. He was most recently the vice president of global sales at CheckMate.
Ex-Nokia HERE CEO Becomes Citymaps Executive Chairman
Personalized mapping platform Citymaps puts itself on the map by hiring respected ex-Nokia HERE leader Michael Halbherr as executive chairman. The move follows efforts to beef up the Citymaps product, including the addition of a web-based platform to complement its existing Android and iOS apps.
