Openings and New Hires at Gannett, Vendasta, Instacart, Microsoft & HTC
Every two weeks, Kelly Benish — who knows practically everyone in local — covers some of the latest job changes taking place in this dynamic industry. (Plus, scroll down for jobs on offer now.)
Nikhil Shanbhag – Instacart
Grocery delivery startup Instacart has been growing their management team, as the company seeks to expand into new markets and grow its customer base. To support that mission, it has brought on a new general counsel, Nikhil Shanbhag, who joined the company in recent months from Google. He served head of the Global Competition group at the search giant. The company also hired a new VP of communications, Andrea Saul, who coincidentally also has a background in D.C. and politics; she most recently ran comms for Sheryl Sandberg’s nonprofit organization LeanIn.Org.
Rob Wilk – Microsoft
Rob Wilk, most recently the VP of Sales for Foursquare, has decided to check out and join Microsoft as their North America VP for search sales and service. Rob is a seasoned sales and account management professional with over 18 years of media experience. 15 years were spent specifically in digital media on both the agency and publisher sides. It’s his unique experience that is bound to be the wave that will further expand Microsoft’s reach.
Saurabh Rishi – HTC
Saurabh Rishi was recently promoted to director, PMO at HTC — a smartphone and tablet creation company. His ability to develop, modify and drive enterprise processes to ensure successful implementation of new products and services has definitely helped to facilitate the promotion from a project management role to this new role. In the past, he worked as the Principal program manager on HTC.com global marketing team to support successful launches of high visibility projects.
Jed Williams – Vendasta
Vendasta Technologies recently brought on the one and only Jed Williams to be VP of business development and strategy. Jedley is a veteran of the media space and recently held positions as the director of business development at Main Street Hub and as a senior analyst and VP of strategic consulting at BIA/Kelsey. Jed will lead efforts at Vendasta to design strategies and programs for the large media companies Vendasta works with to mutually grow revenues and keep customers happy. The heavily caffeinated Jed is a great addition to the Vendasta corporate culture and is exactly what they need to take them to the next level.
Steve Passwaiter – Kantar Media Intelligence
Steve Passwaiter was recently brought on by Kantar Media Intelligence as their Sr. director, business development – CMAG/Political. You may know him from his days at BIA Kelsey as their VP of Business development. In his new role he will be managing buy, spending, and content analysis for political, advocacy, and influencer-focused advertising. Kantar also monitors political and issue advertisements in print, on television, on the radio.
