Cuebiq Angel Investor Joins Company
Yext Adds President, Hires Two Execs
Yext has brought on Jim Steele as President and Chief Revenue Officer — an interesting move since Steele was already on the company’s board. He is stepping down from the board of directors to join the Yext full-time. Previously, Steele served as president and chief customer officer at Salesforce, where he had worked for 12 years and helped grow Salesforce’s revenue to over $5B. It seems clear that Yext wants to put everything in place — from an executive leadership standpoint — before a potential IPO. Yext has raised at total of $116m in venture capital, and has not raised since their $50m+ round in 2014.
After two years as director for DACH and Central and Eastern Europe at Google’s DoubleClick, Michael Hartwig has left DoubleClick to lead Yext’s German office as managing partner of Central Europe. Hartwig will lead operations for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Prior to Yext and DoubleClick, Hartwig was CEO of eprofessional and CMO of zanox.
Duane Forrester joins Yext as VP of insights from Bruce Clay, Inc. where he served as vice president of organic search operations. Forrester also spent eight years at Bing and Microsoft in senior product manager roles.
Unacast Hires Privacy and Product Gurus
Unacast has brought on Jarno Vanto as chief privacy officer and Tom Navin as VP of product. Prior to Unacast, Vanto spent ten years in the ad tech and marketing space and is one of few attorneys to have experience working in the beacon and proximity industry. Before Unacast, Navin was VP of product at The Weather Company (IBM) and had multiple product roles at Ghostery. Unacast has raised $6.6m in venture financing to date.
New Global Chief Marketing Officer at Toys “R” Us
Toys “R” Us has named Carla Hassan as its global CMO. Hassan worked at PepsiCo for over 12 years in roles such as SVP of brand management and CMO of Middle East and Africa. Toys “R” Us has over 866 U.S. locations and 750 international outlets. Hassan will be charged with global marketing responsibilities and how to help the struggling retail giant.
Propel Marketing Hires COO
Propel Marketing, provider of digital marketing products and services for local businesses, has brought on Susan Fazelpoor as chief operating officer. Before Propel, Fazelpoor spent 11 years at Connection (formerly PC Connection).
Square Losing Top Sales and International Exec
Recode reports that Francoise Brougher will be leaving Jack Dorsey’s payments company later this year. A Google vet, Brougher joined Square in 2013, and was tasked with building out a sales and customer support organization.
Ex-AOL Exec Joins DashBid
Jay Wardle joins New York-based programmatic video advertising company DashBid as chief revenue officer. Wardle previously worked at AOL and American Express in various advertising and sales roles. DashBid has raised $4.95m in venture capital and was founded in 2011.
CMO Appointment at inMarket
Cameron Peebles has joined inMarket as chief marketing officer. Peebles has 19 years of sales and marketing experience and was most recently CMO. inMarket is a beacon proximity platform that provides mobile location solutions to apps, brands, and retailers. The company is based in Los Angeles and have raised $2m in funding.
