The B2B buyer intelligence platform Demand Science is acquiring the email marketing automation startup Tidings for an undisclosed sum.

Tidings founder David Mihm will join Demand Science as VP, head of product, as part of the deal. Mihm, a Street Fight contributor, previously founded and sold GetListed.org to Moz in 2012. He is among the leading voices helping small businesses tackle SEO and market themselves online.

Tidings’ software automates newsletter creation. The company claims to reduce the time needed to craft newsletters from hours to less than ten minutes. It does this by leveraging the content a company has already posted on social media and adding relevant industry news.

For Demand Science, Tidings adds to a suite of tools designed to help businesses sell and market their solutions to other businesses.

“We know a key pain point for businesses is determining what content to create, and how to do it efficiently,” Mihm said. “Tidings solves this problem.”

Email marketing has fared relatively well during the pandemic. Consumers have been stuck at home, scrolling on their phones or surfing the Web on desktop. Those who leave their email inboxes open have granted email marketers an opportunity. For those capable of capitalizing on the synergy between email and social, the opportunity is all the greater.

Street Fight named Tidings best new product in 2018.
