AOL Leader Joins Empyr
AOL veteran Donnie Yancey has left his CDO post at MapQuest after thirteen years with the company. He joins Empyr as chief operating officer. Empyr, which is a sub-business of MOGL, is a startup that focuses on online-to-offline transactions. The company has raised just shy of $45m in venture capital over the past few years.
MatchCraft Senior Executive Leaves to Microsoft
After eight years of spearheading global business development at MatchCraft, Ced Simpson has joined Microsoft as director of industry market development. Simpson led sales and business development operations including new reseller acquisition and channel development for North America, Latin America, APAC, and Europe at MatchCraft. His role at Microsoft is in the cloud service and hostings arena which is much different than the local paid search space. Best of luck to Ced on his new venture! xAd Monster Growth and New Hire
xAd has hired Shashi Seth as its chief product officer. Seth brings over 20 years of experience in product strategy and development to his new role at xAd, previously holding senior roles at both Google and Yahoo! The new hire announcement comes after xAd announced that the company has experienced 100 percent year-over-year revenue growth, leading to a $250 million run rate. The revenue and growth is impressive which begs the question: Will xAd IPO in 2017?
YP Promotes SVP Internally
YP has promoted Mark Ugar to senior vice president of business development. Since joining YP in 2013, Ugar and his team have been responsible for more than 100 strategic business partnership deals, helping to drive YP’s revenue. Prior to YP, Mark has held leadership positions at Hearst Digital and Microsoft.
New President at CBS Local Digital Media
Ezra Kucharz, who helped build and lead 24+ markets and 146+ stations as a president at CBS, is leaving his post. Kucharz will stay at the company as special advisor to the CEO as well as remain on several nonprofit and corporate boards. His replacement, Adam Wiener, was named EVP/GM at CBS Local Digital Media. Prior to his appointment, Wiener spent six years as SVP of content, community and operations at CBS Local Digital. Before CBS, Wiener worked in various roles at Dow Jones and NBC Universal.
EVP Named at Promoboxx
Promoboxx has hired Barth Getto as EVP sales. Getto spent the last seven years at Biz Unite (the business unit of CCA Global Partners) in various upper management positions.
New Sales Exec At Search Influence
Search Influence recently hired Lynn Bergeron as its new director of sales. Bergeron will continue to expand Search Influence’s efforts in delivering SEO services and digital advertising products. Before arriving at Search Influence, Bergeron worked as a sales manager for Ricoh USA’s New Orleans sales team. He also worked with Kimberly-Clark Professional for 16 years.
