CommentSold, a live selling platform, launched Videeo this morning, a white-label live video commerce technology for enterprises. Videeo will help retailers create native-looking live shopping experiences at scale by easily integrating CommentSold’s technology into their existing ecommerce stack.

CommentSold says it has shipped more than 94 million products through its technology. It has worked with more than 4,000 small to enterprise-sized retailers and is among the companies leading the charge on live selling in North America.

Videeo allows retailers to sell via video across platforms, including their own website, social media, and mobile apps. It also allows retailers to retain customer data in their own database to avoid privacy issues, a strong sign of the data privacy movement’s increasing impact on ecommerce and digital advertising over the past few years.

CommentSold points to research showing that 47% of consumers want more live video content from preferred brands and that a majority of live event viewers tend to become repeat customers.

On the whole, live shopping has skyrocketed in popularity in China, but the practice of buying items directly from livestreams, often on social apps, has not yet become a primary fixture of the Western ecommerce experience. It remains unclear just how much social commerce will take over from traditional ecommerce via retailers and marketplaces like Amazon.

With Videeo, CommentSold is hoping to bring the practice into the American limelight by making it easy for retailers to launch. The question is whether, or rather how many, American consumers will bite.
