Not bad, then, considering AroundMe has a single founder, a team of four, and no outside funding. The company is also now reporting having surpassed 1 million downloads per month.

Fisher Interactive Network and Accelerated Media have launched connected TV applications for KOMO News in Seattle, featuring Accelerated Media’s advanced ad serving platform. They took note of The Times of Northwest Indiana in Munster, Indiana, which serves a growing region of contiguous small towns. Its strategy is to create “communities” — custom Web sites for each venue in its coverage area. There are now 20 Times community sites, which showcase hyperlocal news and local ads.
