Take Street Fight’s 2013 Local Merchant Survey

PollWith last year’s inaugural Local Merchant Report, Street Fight aimed to become a go-to resource for information about how small and medium-sized business owners view their marketing challenge. Who would know better than us and our readers that this group of marketers is increasingly turning to hyperlocal marketing to promote their businesses, snag new customers and make sales.

In the past year, as daily deal companies have slipped somewhat from the general consciousness, Facebook, Foursquare, Yelp and other location-focused marketing solutions have seen a surge of activity from local retailers and other SMBs. Merchants are also building mobile-friendly websites and using mobile ads, digital coupons and marketing automation.

And all this activity is helping to push local online ad spending to an estimated $24.5 billion in 2013, up a third from a year ago.

Analyzing Hyperlocal Trends
But which location-aware solutions are attracting the most local merchants and SMBs? What are they spending? Who are they working with? And how are they integrating hyperlocal campaigns into existing marketing programs?

We ask these questions every day, and we analyzed these and other trends in last year’s research report, which featured many voices of local business owners talking about their marketing needs. The Local Merchant Report has become a must-read for hyperlocal solutions providers looking to gain a deeper understanding of their customer base to develop better, more relevant products and services.

The Local Merchant 2013 will be released soon, but first:

Street Fight Needs Your Help
To get the most accurate, up-to-date information, we need your help: We’ve designed a survey to hear directly from local merchants about their online marketing practices, preferences, budgets and vendor partnerships for the 2013 edition of The Local Merchant report. You can find the survey here: The Local Merchant survey.

To achieve the best statistical results, we need your key customers to fill out the survey. We’ve kept busy small business owners in mind so that the survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

Please ask your customers to weigh in on this important issue by filling out the survey. Their combined insights will be featured in The Local Merchant report due out this summer. Plus: Merchants who agree to share contact information at the end of the survey will be featured on the Street Fight website.

To everyone who takes a moment to share a link to the survey with your local merchant customers — a big thanks! We look forward to helping hyperlocal companies gain new and actionable insights into today’s local landscape.

In case you missed it, here’s that link again: The Local Merchant survey.
