July 30: Optoro Locks Down $75 Million for Returns Optimization Platform
Franklin Templeton Investments led the round, the Wall Street Journal reported. Optoro’s platform allows brick-and-mortar retailers to handle returns efficiently in the age of digital commerce. The funds will help Optoro develop its product.

July 31: Gusto Raises $140 Million to Help SMBs Manage Payroll
T. Rowe Price Associates Inc., Y Combinator Continuity Fund, and General Catalyst led the round, Bloomberg reported. The company helps SMBs strapped for time manage what can be logistical nightmares: payroll and benefits. Gusto has 60,000 customers and is headed toward an IPO.

Aug 2: Shedul Rakes In $5 Million to Power Spa and Salon Booking
Target Global led the round, TechCrunch reported. Shedul is an online booking platform that connects spas and salons with potential customers. The fresh capital will be put toward product development and rollout.

Aug 3: Teamleader Scores $22 Million to Streamline SME Operations
Keen Venture Partners led the Series C round, TechCrunch reported. SMEs can deploy Teamleader’s platform to digitize and increase the efficiency of their sales, project management, and invoicing processes. Teamleader will accelerate its product development and pursue growth beyond the six nations in which it currently claims clients.

Aug 7: StreetLight Data Snaps Up $10 Million for Transportation Analytics Platform
Osage University Partners, ENGIE New Ventures, and Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners contributed to the round, VentureBeat reported. StreetLight Data’s platform uses data from mobile phones (collected from apps and only visible as anonymous, random numbers) to create graphic understandings of a region’s traffic patterns. It’s being used by transportation companies and authorities to address the amount of time we all spend sitting in traffic. The company is releasing new features and is aiming to expand.

Aug 8: Dynamic Yield Secures $32 Million to Power Personalized Experiences
Viola Growth led the Series D round, AdExchanger reported. Dynamic Yield makes software that helps marketers and publishers alike personalize digital experiences at a time when customers expect peak efficiency and catered UXs. The round will fuel Dynamic Yield’s ambitions for rapid growth.

Aug 8: Spark Neuro Snags $13.5 Million to Assess Emotions of Consumers Exposed to Ads
Peter Thiel and other investors led the round, VentureBeat reported. Spark Neuro’s tech allows brands to measure the impact of their advertising campaigns in a new dimension: the emotions of ad viewers. The company plans to more than triple its headcount and expand internationally.
