Facebook Jumps Into TV, Hires Former Verve CEO
Facebook is entering the TV market aggressively and reportedly spending $10k-250k to produce its own TV shows. Additionally, the social giant signed TV deals with Buzzfeed, ATTN, Group Nine Media and Vox according to Salon. With these new strategic deals and strategy, Facebook has hired two executives to help the business channel grow.

Former Verve CEO Nada Stirratt has joined Facebook as its Vice President of Global Marketing Solutions for U.S. and Canada. Stirratt was most recently CEO at Verve where she served for over two years. Verve went on an acquisition spree while she was CEO, so unsure if those acquisitions panned out as well as the team hoped. Before Verve, Stirratt was Chief Revenue Officer at Acxiom and MySpace, respectively.

Ty Ahmad-Taylor has also been named Vice President of Product Marketing at Facebook. Ahmad-Taylor is a seasoned veteran in the media and consumer hardware space and served as CEO at THX Ltd where the company broke into new sectors such as VR, mobile devices, and immersive three-dimensional audio. Before THX Ltd, he was VP of Samsung SmartTV Services and CEO and Founder of FanFeedr which Samsung acquired.

Alphabet Hires Former MediaMath Exec
Former MediaMath President, Ari Buchalter, has been tapped as CEO of Alphabet-backed smart cities startup Intersection. Intersection is utilizing ancient phone booths by laying down fiber lines beneath the streets of NYC to power its network of large digital displays that provide access to free Wi-Fi. Buchalter replaces interim-CEO Dan Doctoroff, who will now serve as the company’s executive chairman. Buchalter’s has extensive leadership experience such as President and COO of MediaMath for eight years, Senior Partner at Rosetta Stone, and Associate Principal at McKinsey and Company.

Airbnb Snatches Local Content Strategist From Google
After two years as the content strategist and industry event speaker for Google My Business, Willys DeVoll moved to Airbnb as the Content Strategist for their search product. Airbnb has made a big push to focus on local experiences for Aibnb guests. DeVoll’s expertise in local content will help Airbnb diversify its offerings to consumers and chip away at hotel concierge services. Airbnb has raised $3.4b in venture funding and could go public in 2018.

Sales VP Appointment at Womply
High growth SMB technology startup Womply has hired Mark Smith as Vice President of Sales. Womply uses technology and data to grow, protect, and simplify small businesses. Smith has held several leadership sales roles at companies like Joist, Vivinent, and FrontPoint Security. Womply has raised $50m in venture funding since its founding in 2011.

RingPartner Leadership Promotion
Sarah Gulbrandsen has been promoted to Vice President of Client Operations at RingPartner, an RTB based performance marketing exchange. Gulbrandsen will be responsible for overseeing the sales, marketing, and ad operations divisions. She was recently Director of Marketing and Culture at RingPartner. Prior to RingPartner, Gulbrandsen was Managing Director at Twist Communications Consulting.
