Landreth has brought together integral investors, community managers and long-term partnerships during his official month of office.
Rohan Chandran and Hossam Bahlool – Telenav
The Silicon Valley based Telenav announced the hire of Rohan Chandran and Hossam Bahlool to lead to Scout’s growing consumer and automotive products. Scout GPS app is available on the phone, in the car and on the web and seamlessly connected by the cloud. Chandran will work with product, design and marketing teams to build Scout into a multi-screen service. Prior to Telenav, Chandran was SVP at Technorati and responsible for leading product management, marketing, business development, and custom solutions, and before that he was at YP. Most recently, Bahlool co-founded Jingu Apps, a mobile-only social discovery platform that grew to over 15 million downloads. Before Jingu, he was director of product management at BlackBerry.
Grady Burnett – Kenshoo
Kenshoo announced the appointment of Grady Burnett, a former Facebook and Google exec, to its Board of Directors. Burnett will provide strategic guidance to Kenshoo by drawing on his more than 15 years of industry experience. Burnett is widely regarded as a pioneer in online advertising, having spent four and a half years at Facebook as VP, Global Marketing Solutions. Previously, Burnett spent four years at Google where he launched and oversaw Google’s Ann Arbor, Michigan, office as Director of Online Sales and Operations for the Google North American AdWords team. Prior to Google, he spent five years at DoubleClick as VP of Agency Sales. Currently, Burnett is the Chief Operating Officer at Flurry, the leading mobile analytics and advertising company.
Allison Checchi – YP
YP has promoted Allison Checchi to chief marketing officer. Checchi was previously the company’s SVP of business development, will now be responsible for increasing awareness of the new YP brand. She will be replacing Ken Ray who left a couple of months back. Since making the switch from YellowPages.com, YP has redesigned its website properties and app to reflect the rebranding. It has also launched new website-building and online presence-management tools for small businesses and acquired predictive analytics company Sense Networks to enhance its mobile display offering.
Rand Fishkin – Moz
The cofounder of Moz (formerly known as SEOmoz) Rand Fishkin has decided to step down from his role as the CEO. He announced the news on his personal blog about a month ago and he actually left a little over two weeks ago. He said it was because he felt he was “out of his depth, and poorly suited, especially from an emotional resiliency perspective, to meeting his obligations” in that role. It sounds like a mouthful but basically he will still be involved with the Moz organization. Rand’s new title is “individual contributor” but will continue to do what he has been doing, “product design, marketing initiatives, and evangelism” for the company. The president and COO of the company, Sarah Bird, is taking over as CEO. She has been with the company for six years and has been acting in many ways as the company’s CEO, according to sources.
Deborah Anderson – Internet Marketing Ninjas
New York marketing company Internet Marketing Ninjas, announced the recent hiring of Deborah Anderson, as senior project manager. Will 20 years of experience under her belt, she will be performing a number of roles to help the company continue to grow. Anderson has had an interesting career in a variety of roles and she is best known as the host of Marketing Momentum, a weekly web series on Social Web Café TV and I Heart Radio. Furthermore, she helps professionals use Google Hangouts with her company HangoutQueen.com.
